Thanks for sharing. Good luck with your father.

Thank you, Bill, and as always, thank you for your plant and animal identifications. I don't even mind when you have to correct me. Haha

I appreciate the praise, Haluk, and yes, we do all have special memories.

Thanks George, it's nice to know that others have the same self-editing problem as I've got.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if you get pasties for a group dinner. The pasty shops provide for events like that all the time. Have fun in Marquette and make sure you get out to Presque Isle Park.

Indeed, it IS an interesting architectural style. I just learned it's an asymmetrical mix of several styles, primarily Second Empire & Venetian Gothic. Thanks for asking.

Yeah, I think the fear of rejection is part of the reason I don't usually ask for photos. That's a good trick--asking to take a picture of the bike and then "letting" the rider get in on the picture if they want.

Once, while crossing the Peace Bridge from Buffalo, NY to Canada, I met another couple coming from the other direction. While I was talking to the guy, I noticed the gal surreptitiously snapping a photo of me. I didn't mind, but I did think it was a little cheeky.

I'm guessing the two states have a similar number of lakes, but the U.P. doesn't feel the need to brag about it.

I need to work on my body shape. Thanks for another excellent tip.

I will remember the prying with a stick technique next time. Thanks for the tip.

The lack of editing restraint by G-1 is part of what makes his journals interesting.

Good trip! Thanks for posting.

Thanks for not editing anything out. Whatever you write is always a good read.

Besides, we all have some memories here and there, don't we?

"I mean, what kind of Pulitzer Prize candidate shamelessly inserts personal stories from one's college days into a bike tripping journal?"

uh, err,....I don't know (said with an embarrassed face), but I've been guilty of such journalistic faux pas myself (that's faux pas plural, which is pronounced differently than faux pas singular). I'm not going to stop inserting tales of my olden days in my journals, and I hope you don't either. Keep 'em coming, I like them - and the more astute younger folks can certainly learn from them. Looking forward to the grand conclusion.

Hi,
Even the l’able on this stuff lies. There is no actual cheese in this « cheese product ». It contains whey solids, cheese culture, and canola oil, and is not considered cheese by the FDA or any civilized person.
Cheers,
Keith

We'll be in Marquette August 1 to attend an Airstream rally but I don't plan to swim out to those rocks. Instead, I'd rather check out those pasties! Maybe the organizers of the rally will be offering pasties at one of their group dinners:)
