5 years agoSix miles????Argh. Especially when spurred on by a guy who hasn’t done six miles cumulative in years!
I was also a sprinter and didn’t do well with longer distances. The same applies with my cycle touring. I am relatively slow, but can turn on the after burner for short distances. No endurance. Sorry for my ridiculous diversion....
His demeanor was really interesting, too. This shot captures it very clearly, he was intrigued but still very much the somewhat Skeptical Expert.
5 years agoIt’s great when someone is genuinely interested like this guy. I think Willie said that bike touring is sometimes like having a puppy in that people will approach you more readily.

5 years agoYes, this was only the fourth day of riding. By the sixth day my calves were enormous and I asked Andrea not to photograph them anymore knowing some people would be jealous.
