Bill, I really like that there is someone out there following us who can identify these plants. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Are you strictly bot-wise or can you identify on the zoo-side too?

Hi Ed and John! Was just looking on the KATY trail website and they said to use caution mile marker 178.3 to 169.5 due to the Pedaler’s Jamboree event May 26-28. Hee haw! Looks like you’re going right through it.

Hi Sandy. Though I did not have the time to get to Lummi Island, I just, two days ago, rode from B’Ham to Lummi on a gorgeous but windy day. I did ride to the island once, but so long ago I have little to no recollection of what it is like to ride. Might have to do that again ;’-).

I too enjoy bridges so am always glad to see the photos. Interesting story about Daniel Boone, and the Jeffersonian Grid - though I understand only part of that! Boone leaving the country to then be surprisingly brought back to the country he left must have been upsetting to him!

We have them in our gardens on Lummi island WA- very invasive and impossible to eradicate from the garden. Not your usual cute morning glory!

We call them morning glories. Don't they have stickers? They were common where I grew up.

Not a thistle, nor a dandelion, but a relative, salsify.

By the way, the fuzzy big leaves are mullein, aka "backpacker's TP" and it is good for that use!

I agree. Never stop on an uphill or a fast downhill.
I’m enjoying your journal - you guys are my scouts!

The pain is real! First a town with no coffee shop - whoever heard of that?? Then a tepid cup of hot drink! I definitely feel your pain as I am a tea drinker and it is often unreasonably difficult to find a hot tea in some places, and when you can, it is often ….. tepid! I want HOT tea thank you.

If the coffee isn’t scalding, I don’t want it. Okay, I still want it but I’ll be a chimahusky and complain about it as I drink it 😂😂

Do you want to move to Osceloa, Iowa? I have friends with a similar house for sale. It's a labor of love to own an old Victorian.
