2 months agoA wonderful review of your 2000 trip. I'm very much looking forward to this next adventure.

2 months agoGlad to see this entry. We were beginning to ask ourselves when your trip began since there had been no post for several days. Long travel days-now we got it. Have a great time. We will be following along eagerly.
2 months agoA great journal Susan!
2 months agoWhat a beautiful recount of what was undoubtably an amazing trip. Stunning photo's of the dunes in the morning light and so interesting to see the real local interest in how the US democratic process was working its way through in 2000.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your current trip through 25 year older lenses!
This was a fascinating page, well written, and covering a region that we seldom read about in cycling literature. And how about that German camera shop! We need to rediscover them.
Times do change, and I have been dismayed to see South African support for Russian dictatorship and aggression. And oh, they exported Elon Musk, hummphh.
An interesting look back at your amazing African journey. It will be so very interesting to follow your current trip and see once again the people and places through your eyes. Can hardly wait for it to begin! Dodie
2 months agoWell, that’s pretty magical.

Looks like a fantastic adventure. Have a great trip!
2 months agoHey Susan, don't forget the very apt Canadian saying-when in a group being chased by a bear (substitute lion here) you don't need to be faster than the bear (substitute lion again), you just need to be faster than the last person in the group. Pedal hard!
2 months agoActually, the original came out in 1939, sung in Zulu by rhe aurhor, Solomon Linda. As glorious and thrilling as the Tokens version is, the story of Linda and the pittance he received in royalties is tragic. I’ll send you a pic and article if you want to include it for context.
2 months agoSuch kind comments from a paragon of cycle touring - much appreciated! I wish I could have joined you in Tucson and am very much looking forward to Annecy.

Glad you had smooth trip. It's always easier if you don't have a bicycle in tow, too.
