I’m so glad to hear your train trip went well! Belfort looks like an amazing place! We have to go go there sometime.

2 months agoReminds me somewhat of my childhood when I used to stare at the ceiling of the City of Paris department store in San Francisco, CA. It is still in “my mind”, but your photos are a great rendition!
2 months agoWe had a beer right there just 8 weeks ago. Strange.

:-)
I would only give it a rating of 1.5 on the fun scale as it was a relatively short section…about .5 km which I knew popped out onto the road we were previously on.

2 months agoBut not as much fun!
2 months agoThe price you pay when you change your route slightly to avoid a bit of a climb. I could see it was only .5 km to connect to the original route much shorter than doubling back the way we came. My version and I am sticking to it. Kathleen tried to persuade me that we should double back. But what fun would be that when a little adventure lies ahead.

2 months agoBelfort was a surprise. It doesn’t look like much when you get off the train, but then boom, you get to the old town and it is beautiful! The lion alone is worth a trip to the city. So fun to know you lived here. I think the young women across from us on the train (she got on in Besançon) must be studying engineering. She sweetly asked if we needed the table, we did not, and then she spent the journey doing complicated calculations on graph paper.

That’s amazing that it’s so inexpensive! I imagined it would have cost at least twice that much.
