Probably a stinkbug.

American toad. I enjoy finding toads. They are slowly becoming less common.

Back in the 1980s I lived in Jeffersonville, and enjoyed the area you camped on occasion.
Dodie has been using a doubled buff as a quick mask. She put a doubled pipe cleaner in the fold to help shape the top to the nose a bit. Seems to work alright along with very carefulbsocial distancing.
4 years agoThanks, Jim! Now that we have time, I ordered one saddle (Selle Anatomica) and will cycle it through family members to see how it treats them. But most of them did great with the 42 miles this week. (I should probably have them all ride up and down the street tomorrow morning and see if it kills to get in the saddle!)
4 years agoYes, the singing! It's fantastic, isn't it?
4 years agoStay safe out there, Keith! Look forward to hearing about some future tour of yours.
4 years agoI like that way of looking at things. I kept thinking of your comment on our overnighter this week. Next summer, the kids will be stronger, and with the dog being in Utah ahead of us, I think we should be pretty capable. Thanks for the encouragement. Hope you're well during all this! I'm going to have to go check out your journals more closely. Riding as a tribute was very cool.
4 years agoHi Paul,
Most importantly, stay safe. The on bike safety is easy compared to microbiological safety, but hang in there. We are just emerging from eight weeks of quarantine here in France and my plans are on hold, too.
Nice to hear that the kids are looking forward to the tour.
Cheers,
Keith
Ouch! Been there, done that!
4 years agoWe are sure all living in interesting times. All our touring hopes have been put on hold also. That includes our own hoped for trip from Germany to Greece and our annual trips with our 2 sets of grandkids. Hopefully next year will allow a return to our preferred normal. Enjoy the short explorations near your home. Maybe you can view them as training rides. All the best to you and yours. The Grampies
4 years agoI’m so sorry your trip is likely to be delayed. I’ve really enjoyed reading about your preparations and am looking forward to reading about the trip. You’re a great writer! Be careful and stay safe!
4 years agoWhen my daughter was young, I pulled her in a Winchester trailer and then we moved up to the Trail-a-bike when she got older. I used to occasionally bike her to school that way, those were fun rides.
We did a number of long rides but never a tour - looks like you have a great start on a great ride! On those long rides, my daughter would always get mad if passing cyclists outed her for not pedaling. I could always tell when she stopped anyway - most of the time she started singing when she stopped pedaling and that was awesome background music that I will always remember.
Hi Paul, Sounds like a great adventure! I don't want to get into the saddle wars, but I bought a flyer imperial for perineal relief a couple years ago and found that the chafing was worse than on a standard saddle because of the extra edges around the opening. I'm back on the flyer standard and very content with it. The break in period on these saddles is not that long, in fact the flyer was good right out of the box.
Best of luck - I will be following your trip here on CB.
That's my Boy!! and his wonderful wife!!
