Hi Stan - I just got caught up on your journal since Austin. Texas is certainly long. I don’t remember as much head wind as you had every day and since we were inside every night didn’t feel the cold as much s as you. I loved getting into New Mexico and Arizona and it’s been a fun afternoon reading your time there and getting it all back! Lots of cool birds for sure. Thanks for sharing them all. I’ll try to keep up a little better! In the meantime safe riding! C
9 hours agoYes. it is a beautiful area. There were some bits over 5% so sometimes harder. definitely in AZ
1 day agoI remember going over that pass with Marlene, who joined me for the New Mexico part of my trip in 2010. Even though it was a long climb, it didn’t seem as tough as we had expected. Lots of curves and nice scenery. You must be in Arizona by now!
2 days agoHey, Stan, I hope you are ok. I’m missing your blog. Ride safe.
3 days agoI'm sorry about the dog. I chalk it up to a lousy owner. Jeremy, I suspect that folks out there feel they have 4 legged protection. I've seen enough rescued dogs to convince me there are a lot of uncaring owners out there. Agreed, glad to know that Stan is healthy and didn't end up as a hood ornament.
1 week agoThanks Margaret. I don't think we will have mornings that aren't cold until Phoenix
1 week agoStan, I've been following you across. I'm assumong you're past the cold mornings and cold hands but I am bringing a pair of gloves for you in September that don't fit me. They're yours if they fit. They're neon yellow so visible!
Stay safe!

You have a great memory. It all blends together for me. This is a trip run by Adventure Cycling so we will be on the current route a lot. Florida was off route for some reason
2 weeks agoThanks Margaret, I was surprised to see it the Scott's Oriole
2 weeks agoyes. we have been in Texas for a few days. it is getting drier and scrubbier. No brisket for me, but I hear it is good
2 weeks agoMade it to Texas, very nice. How's the brisket and southern charm? Safe travels.
2 weeks agoI bet the rough road you are talking about is 334. One of the roughest roads on my 2010 trip. But, no traffic! 😵💫 If you are staying on the Adventure Cycling route, there is a road in California that is MUCH rougher than that one…
2 weeks agoAnd I forgot. Congrats on the new bird on your life list. That must have been exciting!
2 weeks agoGreat photos today. I love Rust n Peace. And the empty road and shadow— classic. Thanks.

Stan, It's good to see you're still making forward progress! I got a text yesterday from my grandson in Clovis, New Mexico and they had snow. Did you get caught in any of it? I know you were more south. It's cool to hear about all the birds you're seeing. Stay safe! MS
