Thanks for this--the description and the great photos. We loved this ride when we did it, and it was great to relive the experience!

We really liked cycling in Mallorca partly because we could choose as much or as little climbing as we wanted. There are so many alternate quiet routes to choose from. We would recommend cycling around the island from Palma south and east and then north to Alcudia/Pollenca, where you could base yourself for a few days and do loop rides. Our ride back to Palma down the middle of the island was not hilly and very pleasant.

Thanks Scott. We just glanced at a few pages from the Walters' Mallorca blog and it does look more doable than not. We will have to study it in more detail when we get home.

You might still consider it. The Branhams tackled the hilliest part of the island, but the eastern 2/3 of it is much tamer. You might look at Al and Eva Walters’ journal, which generally stuck to the flatter parts.

Congratulations! That’s a lot of climbing but your photos are amazing!

Oh dear, Mallorca looks so hilly. We have been toying with the idea of starting our spri g trip with a week on Mallorca, but Dodie is not so good at hills, so maybe not.

Oh my word! You lucky devils … looks like it was perfection on two wheels out there today day on the Cap. Stunning photos, too. We will return to the cycling Mecca at PP one day.

Hi Janice
25 years ago before wide tyres were popular I was riding 28 X 622 but 28 tubes were few and far between and the LBS owner always sold me 22 X 622 saying that they would expand to fit and they did.

Dodie had a record breaking 3 flats in two days last year in Mexico. All were valve stem failures. Hate it!

Smart play. It's easier to that size tubes, too.

It did weird me out to have so many failures on my bike after going for two months with no flats. I sure hope that's behind us.

I'm lucky that he's so cheerful about it.

It sure seems like you got a bad batch of tubes, and the goo in them could not have helped when they were splitting left, rightvand centre.
