I was thinking the same thing, Jacquie! I’m so glad I have my own gps so even if Scott goes the wrong way I don’t have to follow.

Always nice to have a good spotter to guide.

You are so trusting, Kathleen. Back in the days of paper maps, I hated it that Al had the map, though he was out front. So when we switched to electronic devices, I got my own. Now we both have the routes on our handlebars (and the paper maps are in a pannier).

Keith suggests we CycleBlaze types should buy the town, acquire a barge and run cycle tours up and down the Tarn. You first 😂.

I took pictures of the information they had next to the road and did a little Google Translate. It has been broken since 2017, and was to be repaired, but as there are no permanent residents the municipality decided not to spend the money. It is the only way to bring in large materials for repairs evidently. Also (according to the sign) the place has many hikers come through who are leaving evidence of their activities behind and there is no way to deal with that either. I imagine, but this is a guess, that it is unhappy owners of second homes who have named it ‘a village in peril’. Certainly, IF my assumptions are correct, their investment is in peril.

How amazing that you had the whole place to yourselves and glorious sunshine, too. Sheesh, it doesn’t get much better than that.

This has to be one of the best rides in France. You sure got a spectacular day for it.

Do you know how recently it was broken? I didn’t notice this last year.

Totally agree with the CN, rates as a top ten ride on a sunny day. Ours was early May of 2022. Thanks for sharing yours!
