Such an amazing looking bird. Photos of it with its crest spayed our are even more startling.

Hi D and S, I finally have caught up reading your posts. We have been back from Siem Reap a week so have been catching up on your trip. I might do this trip some day.
Thanks for the insights to Portugal.

Oh, my gosh! That’s no woodpecker, that’s a hoopoe! I love this bird, which I’ve only seen three times and never in time to get a photo of one.

Looks like the roads in Minnesota right now. Except instead of sand dunes we have snow mountains.

How ironic to go to the Algarve and catch a cold! The Classens and Rick Steves are right though. You should definitely suck it up and go see the city; and especially walk along the cliffs if you can afford the time.

Glad you made it back out the coast today. It really is spectacular. And YES = EV1 is not your friend on this route. When we rode this area we often rode out to the coast and along for a short spell and went back in land.

Choose your next rides beyond Sagres carefully as the main highway is busy and boring but there are some nice backroads in this area too. There is some great riding around Sagres! We are enjoying following along and reliving our ride too.

Agreed... a finch or sparrow of some kind maybe.
