I’m thinking it’s a Greenshank or a marsh sandpiper, with that needle like, slightly upturned bill. Definitely not an avocet though. Their upcurved beak is really pronounced, almost suggesting a crochet hook.

Spanish... Yeah, in school, I had Mexican friends who taught me some, and in high school I took a year of it, and in 1968 we vacationed in Spain for a week... None of the 3 made sense compared to each other!
