They get really huge! And the sap stains terribly. I ruined a few shirts harvesting one at my brother's in Hawaii.

Hi Greg, my plans evolve day by day, but my short term goal is to get to a mid-February rendezvous in Oaxaca. I’m currently working on a route via Guadalajara. If you plan to go that way we may still meet, I ride slow.

Thanks David. A fellow I worked with, many years ago, used to say he would order drinks, "sin hielo" (without ice). He said that sometimes, even the clean places made their ice from the tap water and that could get you sick. Enjoying following along with your trip. All the best.

Tarantula hawk wasps on milkweed.

The wasps are not especially aggressive, but their sting, although not dangerous, is among the most painful on earth. I have been around many of them without a hint of aggression.

Milkweed flowers: Seems they attract all manner of wasps and other insects.

There’s the occasional place with lots of flies and suspected hygiene, which I’ll avoid, but as a rule the street food places are merely simple, not dirty. I try to pick places with a crowd, never drink tap water, buy fruit you can peel. I need to eat more vegetables, and am getting tired of eggs

What do you do to avoid Montezuma's Revenge, when eating in local establishments? Or, is that still a concern when in Mexico?
