Flâneuring! A new word for me and it perfectly describes my favourite way to experience a place. Thanks for your journal. I have enjoyed and learned from it. The first time I work the word flâneuring into one of my journals I will give you full credit!

A perfect summary. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. I'm not going to hold back though on the politics. Hope you get rid of that fascist once and for all!

Would you believe, I have a poster of the stairs on one wall in my bedroom and a charcoal drawing of me at age 15 that I had done there. The drawing is most complimentary - I hope the artist had a long career. I would add photos here, if it were possible.

I loved Dole. It always stood out as town I'd love to return to one day.

Thanks Rachael. Hope the rest of your tour is great, and that we actually get to do some cycling when next we meet

How did you like Dole? Maybe it was the rain, but it had a charm of an old French town unmarred by tourism. I kept thinking they could make historical movies without too many modifications

I think it might but I wasn’t sure at the time. I’ll have to check

Well. I'm truly forlorn to see this adventure dim. Thanks for your openness, your positive energy, your photos and your stories. Besides, your country seems to need more people like you around right now!

This is exactly why train travel by bike is so stressful! Too much demand....and not enough supply.

Sue and I were in Dole in 2013, and we remember pausing at this door on our walk around town.
