Yup. I was about to say the same. Pretty animal!
2 years agoAlong with the weird shape and paint job, the name "Ripple" tells me the owners might be Deadheads (Grateful Dead fans) on a "long, strange trip."

Yes, hedgehog for sure, possibly pink-flower hedgehog fits best of the species said to be in that area.

You're likely correct about that. Sure glad we're not back in the NE. Even a little rain now and then is more tolerable than snow and negative temperatures.
2 years agoI wasn't sure on that. This picture was actually taken when I was on the La Canada trail and further south of the park.
2 years agoYou’re right, there is a fair amount of snow up there still. I’m not sure that’s Lemmon though, if this photo was taken from the state park. Which direction are you facing? I think this might be Mount Kimball (elevation 7,424’).
2 years agoYou’re right about the friendliness of the people on the bike paths here. My theory is that they’re all pinching themselves at their good luck at being here instead of back home in the snow and rain.
2 years agoSounds awful! Most of the time I’ve been able to stop right away but one time I was on a long descent and couldn’t stop.
2 years agoFortunately he never had a reaction other than some swelling and itching around the sting site. I've been stung on rides a couple of times but it's always a bit exciting when the sting happens on a tandem while riding! One other time the wasp or whatever it was climbed down inside his shirt and stung him repeatedly as we were climbing slowly up a hill! He was yelling "get it out, get it out" as I tried to slap his back. We had to stop as we nearly fell over!
2 years agoInteresting story! We had just passed a fire station when this happened and I was just glad the 911 operator took Don's word that all was okay!

I totally get being stressed out my mask non-wearers. It happens to me too. I’ve switched to an N95 mask because I’ve read that it protects me regardless of what others are doing. That might be fiction but it keeps me calm. It mystifies me why we can’t work together on this.
