Tent caterpillars. The adults are nondescript moths.

Garter snake. Their color patterns are extremely variable. Sometimes they are a bit pugnacious and almost always they smear stinking musk all over you if you grab them.

7 months agoWhat became of the tick adventure? That is definitely not something to ignore. I had one in my back years ago and ended up going to the emergency care and the doctor had a very difficult time removing it. Still gives me the creeps.
