Wow. A coastal route with hardly any cars? That's pretty special!

I hope you can get in a good night walk. The Centro Storico is amazing. I miss being able to have a Caffe Leccese and a pasticciotto when the weather gets warm.

What excellent views! It sounds like your detour provided an interesting look at the olive grove area. The new bridge looks amazing. Glad it was such a perfect day despite (and because of) the detour.

This pic needs to be entered into a photo competition. Amazing!

His mechanical expertise is top notch, pro all the way. I stand back and observe. And feel very fortunate!

Put it in your list, for sure. Beware though, the mountains of Basilicata are the real deal. No named cols there, but they sure deserve to be signed and named. We cyclist love our col photos!

😆, so true. It was actually 140 just for the jersey.

It was a thrill to stand there and watch every single rider mosey past (twice) as they went to the sign in. It was all so casual. No barricades or anything. What great memories.

It takes awhile to get the hang of it. And we really did get dumped into the thick of it right away! It’s exciting and nerve wracking at the same time.

Yummmm. What a ‘pinch me’ moment. We had our first gelato of the trip yesterday. Nocciola for me and Lecce cafè for David. Two scoops in a cone for 2.50€.

It is much better on a bike or a moto. Especially if you time it well. We didn’I'm even see a bus and there were so few cars. We saw professional drivers parked along the way, just waiting for calls to pick up customers.

The rain came in torrential downpours for about 30 minutes, then off and on. Just after this, I bought the umbrella so we could jump off the bikes and huddle under it whenever the rain hit.
