Love the school house campsite! You are getting quite the tour of our lovely country.
2 years ago",,, 'I can tell you at least three people in here are packing.'. In that vey moment a rare thing happened, I had no response."
I may not have actually *said* so but my immediate response internally would have been "And _they're_ the ones that worry me most." But as a guest in their world that's not for me to say out loud.
What a brave soul my brother is 💙

2 years agoI read the history section of the Wikipedia article several months ago. Having grown up in Illinois, it was no surprise to see that there's a long history of lawlessness in the state...

Wow better bbq than NC …..who knew ?😳
I lived in Murphysboro for a year or so back in the late 1980s. Wish I'd known about the BBQ joint then; of course it may not have been there at that time.
There's a Buckminster Fuller geodesic dome house in Carbondale, if you're interested in a small diversion. And the SIU-C campus is worth a visit. Say Hi to the walk-up Dairy Queen for me if you pass by. I spent many a summer evening on the curb there, watching the world pass by as I enjoyed a soft serve ice cream topped with hot fudge.
The Popeye character- and I think most of the others from the strip- is actually based on a real person.
