Seward, Nebraska with a sign pointing towards Seward, Alaska … passed that very sign in 1999 while heading east on a cross country tour. Unfortunately, that part of the tour ended 2 days later as the heat became unbearable and the 5th day of above 100 degree temperatures with high humidity finally got me. Believe I stayed in that same hotel. Enjoying the trip …

Jeff, I'm glad some of my journal was useful to you!

Bottom Road was certainly one of the nicest roads in that area.

Of course, I didn't have a steep climb in the direction I went 😁

There are a few dozen yellow many petal wildflowers in that area, but rosinweed seems to be a likely ID.

A tumble in the soft gravel. Just I finished commenting yesterday about riding on this kind of surface. So glad you did not get hurt.

:Looks like you hit some pretty soft gravelly trails here Jeff! I am one who aschews these whenever possible, and if came upon what you did, I would have a loooong walke.

Nice! I have tried and tried to get dewy webs but the camera always focuses on the background.

I love reading about and seeing all the small town lore you are finding. Taking time to do just that, to me, is what bike travel (and any travel really) is all about. You do it right.

Can’t help but wonder what catfish races look like ;’-). People are able to come up with many things as entertainment!
