I hope everything is feels better tomorrow. Maybe your "soft landing" wasn't as soft as you thought.
4 months agoI hope you are ok after the fall.
4 months agoSounds like a day off was the right choice. Good call!
4 months agoYes, Scott is correct. I always enjoy finding these lovely beetles!! They are so chill.

I’ll steal some of Bill’s fun here. This looks like a dogbane leaf beetle. Far from invasive, it looks like a desirable critter because it feeds on dogbane - when it can be bothered anyway. According to Wikipedia, a major aspect of this beetles' day to day life is sexual reproduction, as the beetles typically live a highly polygamous lifestyle.
4 months agoJeff,
Great job and may you have many trouble-free miles on your new wheel. I can spend hours trying to get the graph of the tension to look like a smooth circle (while still keeping the wheel true and properly dished), but it sure is satisfying when you nail it!

That was quite the storm back home. Hope power comes back soon.

Yes. I regret now not getting his picture.

Kathleen,
Yes, there are so many helpful, concerned people out there. Gives me hope.

Jeanna and Kerry,
It was a long, hot day, but everything worked out OK.

Hooray for the local fire department. Nice to know that they are out there for you in that heat!
4 months agoNice mug! We’ll be checking on your beard as time goes on.
I’m glad the fireman stopped to check on you. The heat ain’t a joke, so it’s good you’re taking the next day off.
Sounds like a great first day. We're looking forward to following along.
4 months agoScott,
