So wonderful to hear from you and congratulations on impending retirement. It is the best gig! Be sure to check out the Switzerland Mobility app. It is fantastic. An amazing resource.
6 years agoI am still amused by my geographical ineptness and my feeling Andermatt was down low after coming down Furka to it last year. The climb up from Altdorf was such a surprise to me. We didn’t see much of Goschenen with our train sitting right there!
6 years agoOoh! Ideas for next year when I’ll finally be retired!

Keith and Kathleen,
Thanks for the journal. We love it when you are on the road, you fill us with ideas and inspiration.
We are doing things a little differently this year and have already been to and returned from Europe without our bikes this time. Nevertheless we made it to Garmisch and the Zugspitze summit and we loved it.
Have a good trip,
David and Maun
Great photos, showing the layout of Andermatt and the passes. We have never been there, only having gone to Goschenen.
6 years agoWe are going down the Rhine after Oberalp. We are looking forward to a few days of flatter riding although the scenery has been fantastic. We will see how far we get today. We have been so lucky with the weather for this part of the trip.
6 years agoWe have decided just to shut our eyes and open our wallet for the week. It really is such a fantastic place to cycle, and sooooo expensive. We call it $witzerland. But so beautiful and we have been incredibly lucky with the weather.
6 years agoAm extremely impressed by your climbing as we just quietly roll along on almost flat roads! After the Oberal pass are you going down the Rhine?

Typical Swiss bike route signs. Except for the inflated Swiss prices it would be the best place to cycle.
6 years agoWe were missing those wheeled bike boxes for sure. CycleBlaze is an easier site to post on. Just more user friendly. Once more I am glad to be doing the blog. We had so many goofy things happen today and I know I would forget if I didn’t blog.
6 years agoAt least you didn’t have to see it in the flesh, three dimensional and from all angles hehe.
6 years agoCycblaze is a much better site to follow you! Have a great first day riding!

6 years agoI bet you were wishing for those hard cases with wheels 😝

SoTravel is wonderful no matter how you do it, isn’t it. Sometimes when we are having route or accommodation challenges I threaten Keith with a cruise. Being in this part of the world has us talking about a hiking holiday. It is a beautiful but expensive part of the world.
