Such amazing pictures! I love this entry. You must be so fit by now.
5 years agoIt was a perfect day... fabulous weather, scenery and a great guide.
5 years agoWhat a great ride, and what an experience to have a guided tour. And thanks for the reminder - this was one of our favorite passes, going the other way - but the descent terrified us. And look at all the snow on those peaks!
5 years agoSounds like Komoot is in cahoots with my Garmin!
5 years agoWe took the train to Avignon too, in 1992. We had been cycling in Burgundy but the rain didn't seem to want to go away. In Macon we had had enough and spent the day sitting on slow trains all the way to Avignon. The weather was good for the rest of our trip.
5 years agoI decided to skip the ebike stage and go straight to the top hehe. Pretty impressive machine isn’t it.
5 years agoCheater! You look great on it though.
5 years agoLove your comment! An navigation aid with a sense of humour! I am very suspicious of these computer generated routes. All part of the fun!
5 years agoKomoot has an amazing sense of humour and loves directing you to little tracks like that to see if you are concentrating!
Tricia
Kathleen here. I need to get some sun sleeves. True confession, this was a blistering burn. Like you I am very fair but this hasn’t happened in years. I am very puzzled by it but being very, very careful now. Our 30 degree weather is going to change for a few days and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing!
5 years agoClimbing is big here, and Via Ferratas. Maybe it should be your next expedition after Australia.
5 years agoNo kidding hehehe. We had a fantastic/ weird/your parents are idiots kind of day today. We loved every minute of it. Absolutely loved it. We climbed 1330 m but didn’t achieve our goal because we started too late. Oh well. Another Col tomorrow...fully loaded.
5 years agoYou are probably right about the gearing. He may also have been a 25 year who was not as fit as needed to be to go up Ventoux. To his credit he made it to the top by walking his bike. He did comment to Kathleen “never again”.
5 years agoHi Jacquie - We usually sunscreen twice a day particularly on the recent hot sunny days. I have been wearing a long sleeve shirt so saving on sun screen application to the arms.
I will have to try some lavender ice cream. I am kind of stuck on amareno?? flavor. But really ... today I paid 3 euros for a “small” single scoop. In Italy a single scoop is often only 1 Euro. I am heading for Italy!
You guys have officially become Col baggers...that’s a compliment 👍Well done ✅ looking forward to watching the TDF too.
