We rode today, only 52 km to Erlach, an almost completely flat route and we both still felt not up to our usual prime time selves. I felt I was 80 or 90% until I hopped on the bike. He reminded me I am not completely over it either. Keith has made a firm move in the positive direction and looks and sounds so much better. Our stay in Solothurn did him good. We are in a funky little B and B in Erlach and about to go for a walk. It rained the last hour or so of the ride. Now the sun is shining. Spring weather 😀.
5 years agoThat really is great. I’m going to have to give this some thought.
5 years agoI’m glad you could bicycle today. It looks like a great ride. I hope Keith can knock his cold soon. It’s really the pits to start a trip with a cold.
5 years agoI got the idea from the Bartletts. I am really not sure about how to edit it but I am learning! It is a nice way to group a series of photos...church spires, appealing animals, whatever.
Solothurn is stunning. I am about to go explore on my own as Keith works on good health in our palatial room. It is only a cold, but a nasty one and the sooner he is rid of it the better.
Thanks Suzanne for your note. Very nice to hear from you. I found your 2006 journal of your trip and have read a portion of it this morning. It will be very useful to us. All the best to you and Janos.
Keith
Loving your journal and that you are enjoying it all, rain or shine. We rode the same route through Switzerland on our way from Munich to the Med several years ago. I am traveling with you vicariously. Wishing you a great trip.
5 years agoWhat a great collection of photos today...I love the photogrid feature. Glad you’re feeling a little better and taking it slow to start. What’s the hurry in such a beautiful place!
5 years agoI love the packing cubes. I bought them last year at MEC. I feel like I have little dresser drawers with me. I even label them so it makes life on the road really simple. Keith uses ziplock bags and tells me that is a good thing as we will never get our stuff mixed up!
5 years agoI appreciate your comments very much Dodie. You have the expertise. Now the cough seems to be improving but the malady is evolving. He is congested and feeling very tired. We are pretty sure it is just a bad cold but have decided to take another day off and take it easy. We are in Solothurn and it is just gorgeous so it certainly isn’t a hardship for me. If need be he can sleep while I explore.
5 years agoJim says the left would be Keith's because there's something blue on it, lol! Love the packing cubes - I keep thinking I should get them and then forget about it until we are out on a tour 😳
5 years agoMother hen here (Dodie) - is Keith coughing up any stuff or just coughing? If he is coughing up gunk check the colour. If yellow, grey or green get to a doctor , it is probably bronchitis at the least and might need antibiotics. Ignoring a chest infection can lead to pneumonia, also known as the old man's friend, for how quickly it can carry off senior citizens. Sorry if I am being a butinski, but it is done out of love and concern.
5 years agoThanks Scott... taking a day off the the bikes to recoup and explore the town of Aarau.

Thank you, thank you! We love birds and we really wanted to know what this beauty was. We saw a second one soaring later in the day. Just so majestic. Thanks again.
