I lived in northern England (near Warrington, Lancashire) in 1973-1974 and our family did make a long trip to Scotland. I have only see the Scottish Highlands from a car.

I read online that Queen Elizabeth II was the "Queen of Canada" when she became Queen. Since her death, her picture will be replaced by etchings of Bob and Doug McKenzie.

Interesting that you saw a female cycle tourist! In reading your many other journals, it's very rare that you've seen ladies riding on their own!

Good grief -- I've never seen so many scarecrows put up together before! The owners had fun dressing them up!

Yes, that's interesting and odd that most houses in Cheticamp didn't have trees around...

It's a little scary when you are out of food in your bike bags, and then stores/restaurants are closed! Glad you finally got some food at a restaurant you found! I always carry "emergency rations" on my bike so that I at least have a little "something" with me - - though sometimes those run out too!

You mention the area reminded you of the Scottish Highlands from 30 years ago - - did you bike in the Scottish Highlands?

Cape Breton reminds me of the CA coastline.

Nice you could split the cost of the campsite with the other touring cyclist, Philip from Quebec City. :)
