Thanks - it works if the light's right, I also did some cropping.

Great journal, Suzanne. Thanks for taking us along, and for seeing it through to the end after the fact. Regarding the need for a laptop to create routes on the fly though - there are alternatives. Rachael is the one who understands this best, but we do this all the time now. It’s very helpful to create a new route more or less on the fly, of course. She does it all with her cellphone - a Samsung Galaxy S8. I draw routes on RidewithGPS (I use my iPad, but I assume you could with a phone just as well), she downloads it to the phone, and then transfers it to our Garmin device. This was only possible with the new phone (not possible with an iPhone apparently), but I’m not really clear why that is.

Beautiful. This is a type of photo I’m always trying to take but never seem to get right.

Thanks, Mike!
Yes, I'm sure you would enjoy touring here. It's just the getting here ...

An interesting journal Suzanne.

A lovely trip to follow Suzanne we look forward to your next one. Yes it is hard to write a journal after the event, I only did it once. Almost requiring the same discipline as I am struggling with to do an online german language course!

Thanks for your feedback! I always feel I'm overdoing it with my baroque churches. So it was very nice to hear that you like them, too!

Hi,
I hope I can help - I open the Ride with GPS site and go to where it says "upload". I click upload, go to where I have the file on my hard drive and click the gpx file. Then it's in Ride with GPS. To embed the map on your journal you have to go to share and get the code. Tell me if that works or where the snags are.

Btw "impulse" wasn't intended as a pun, I don't know enough about motors that it would have occurred to me. :)

Suzanne, can you give me a couple of sentences about how to upload a route (gpx) to Ride With GPS?

p.s. I thought that "Impulse" in your title would be a Kalkhoff pun, but you do not seem to be using Impulse motors. True?

We absolutely adore the over the top baroque interiors of the Bavarian churches. Thanks for including so many in this blog.

Curious to hear what you think of the e-bikes, if you do try them out. David Alston and his wife Maun from crazyguy are here in Munich now and rented e-bikes for a day. The rentals weren't too impressive so it was hard for them to get an idea what it would really feel like to ride one.

That’s such a nice ride profile, except for that unsightly 5k blemish. Looks like a planning error I might make.

You couldn’t even make it up with an e-assist? I think we’re going to try one of these out, btw. There is an organization that runs e-bike tours of Meteora that we’re considering, mostly because it’s a way to have a guide along to explain what we’re seeing.
