Oleanders are pretty, but do not eat them! Toxic!

About 30years ago we stayed in a room by some traffic lights in Florence. Every time the traffic lights changed they came to to the front and took off with a whine. It seemed to go on all night!

This is particularly true in northern Italy - I can still hear their mosquito-like whine when I think back on our first tour there 25 years ago. They aren’t as prevalent in the south, fortunately.

If you like this, you should try Taiwan. There, they really are overwhelming.

So different from our beaches, and yet so lovely in their own way. I'm off to Pauanui for five days tomorrow (Monday). I don't think the weather will compare with what you're having, but it's peaceful whatever the weather, and great to get away.

Trish -that must have been a typo ... you meant 72 not 82...right? And if you calculate Ken’s fitness level he probably has an effective age of 62! You guys are impressive and an inspiration to us.

And just a banana? How did you pass on those peaches at the market .... they sure looked good.

We are so glad we rode it much less hastle than the train. Thank you. We love this coast and the spectacular views. Yes it is very crowded at this time of year - and expensive but we are loving experiencing the Italians on holiday everything has such a happy vibe. We had intended riding through Piedmonte hittngthe cost at Albengo but so pleased we detoured to Genoa

Glad to see that we didn’t lead you astray and the ride from Genoa worked for you. Isn’t this coast a delight though? We have to make it back ourselves some day.

Thank you Kathleen - we are having a great time escalators apart. Why do we try them again? It was the right decision we made coming to Liguria

Oh how I am enjoying your journal, even if I read it backwards today. We have had company and I am catching up. Tricia, you had me laughing out loud a few times. Aren’t we so lucky to be able to do this? Keep drinking the Aperol spritz, which was my fave people watching beverage in Italy (Keith, like Ken, stuck to beer) and enjoying the meal that comes with. I wish we could teleport ourselves over to join you, but reading about it is the next best thing. Enjoy!!! Oh, and stay away from escalators. I mean it 🤣😂🤣.

You didn’t! After our terrifying escalator experience in Avignon I like to think we have learned, but probably not hehe. Thank goodness for security telling Ken escalators and touring bikes aren’t a good idea. I mean seriously, what could go wrong? Oh, so many things. We are loving your journal, and escalators and bikes give me the shakes, even vicariously!
