5 years agoBeer on a hot day has a knock out effect on me !
5 years agoThat beer looks rather small for all that heat. But you can always order another and another! Hope it cools off soon for you two.
5 years agoThis is lovely countryside- so beautifully kept that it all looks like a park
Andrew is keeping us up to date with George’s progress
Sounds as if it was a good lunch. We were sad Th hear of Julie’s depth. The heat continues - Junelle wouldn’t like it
5 years agoIt is loose gravel that I find so hazardous
5 years agoThe only trouble after a hot day it is rather a knock out drop. But yes I am keeping up the fluids
5 years agoThe Panoramaweg is really lovely once you find it
5 years agoWell, apart from one spill (glad no great damage was done!) you are off to a great start. As always a pleasure to read about your exploits and enjoy the brilliant photographs. Also a pleasure to navigate the site--vastly improved since your previous travels.
All well here--except--you have probably heard that George Trounce is in Auckland Hospital following a very severe stroke.
Hi Ken, You missed a good KHSOB lunch yesterday. Barry & Peter H were there. The sad news was that John Sommervilles wife died yesterday afternoon. Sorry about the spill Trich - been there done that. Cheers. J & G
5 years agoI hate gravel. Especially downhill. Much sympathy being sent your way.
5 years agoI’m so sorry about your spill, and glad it wasn’t worse. It’s so easy to do on steep descents.
5 years agoHope you keeping your fluids up. Beer is a fluid.

You are NOT too old for this type of travel. Take it easy, as you are doing, with shorter days and distances, and enjoy the journey. There are usually bike shuttles of some sort over the passes and it is smart, not shameful, to use them. Loving your trip so far, and really jealous, since this is the route we had originally wanted to do this fall until life events interfered.
