Looks like a dogbane leaf beetle. Spectacular colors!

+1 for The Blues Brothers.
Now I gotta find that dvd I have lying around somewhere.
Yep, I’ll be telling it around the dinner table for years. 😊
1 year agoDefinitely! I’m glad it’s just a story today.
1 year agoWhat a day! I agree with Mike... it'll make for a great story someday.
1 year agoThat will be a day to look back on in the future!

1 year agoThey're pretty expensive, but the Fumpa pump might also be a consideration. Rob Ewing has one. This is him posting about it:

And this is their website:

I have a larger, less expensive battery pump but I haven't taken it on a trip yet. An Amish couple I met on my 2021 trip had one and I tried it out. It worked well. They (and I) have the cheapest of the three:

Excellent, I worked in bookstores until Amazon came along and ruined everything. I read and enjoyed lots of stuff myself, sci-fi included. I sure do miss working with all those wonderful titles…
1 year agoHi Juicy
I was a teenager in the middle nineteen fifties and I read all the sci-fi masters, Asimov, A E Van Voght, Arthur C Clarke, Robert Heinlein etc.

Hahaha! I laugh every time I think about this picture.
1 year agoGood call. I also saw this mini rechargeable pump online. It is small and lightweight and made for cyclists. About the size of a deck of cards, maybe two thick. Looked cool. I have a lot of trouble with my hands so the easier the better for me. Thanks 😊
1 year agoRe pump - you have an older frame design capable of fitting a decent long pump under the top tube. Scan the net for a no longer manufactured Zefal HPX and get the longest one that will fit your bike.
These pumps kick ass and are claimed to be able to inflate up to 120 psi.
You should only need about 70 for your touring tyres which it will do easily!
Good point!

Yep, and don’t you know it I end up getting two slices of dry white toast in just a couple days from this ride.
