Gee, that bridge looks familiar - think we saw it a couple of days ago :-)

Hey Racpat,
We were talking to the Smith’s about a week ago and figured out we were going to be behind them. Now it looks like we may catch them. I sent them a note to see if we can meet up.

We have been following your blog and it looks like you been making good progress. We are making good progress also and are happy with how the tour is going. We have been in hotels more than we thought and we are going to stay close to I-94 until Fargo. We are trying to determine our route across Minnesota and Wisconsin

Take care and stay safe!
Maybe we will meet up again down the road.

Hi
Are you guys following the Smith's, Two Far journal? You are a day behind them I think. They are in Bismark.
We are to Devils Lake tomorrow and then only a couple more days in ND.
Thanks for the mention

Hi Tom,
Good to hear from you and I am glad you are enjoying the journal. We will be near Cable some time between July 20 and July 27. We will contact you when we are getting near the area and we would love to see you if it works out. Thanks Tom!

We are enjoying your journal. I heard you might come through northern Wisconsin? We re spending lots of time at our cabin in Cable Wisconsin. If you come near us, let me know. We'd love to meet you and provide some support for your adventure.

Hi Carol,
Good to hear from you. There is nothing by fields in eastern Montana and so far in North Dakota. It is actually better than I thought. I was expecting nothing but rocks and sage brush. Towns and services are far apart so we have to make sure we carry extra food and water. It’s been an adventure but I must say we are looking forward to getting back to Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan areas.

Btw: Janet and I started playing Pickleball last winter in Az. Love it!!

Take care!

I did pre student teaching in Poplar Montana. Wolf Point was where the action was. Lol. Sounds like it hasn’t changed! I remember the drive from Illinois to Mt and we were excited to see a telephone pole - a sign of people! Thanks for sharing, keep on pedaling and finding something to enjoy every day.

Thanks Rachel! The rash actually seems better today. We have a rest day tomorrow so hoping I can pick something up at Walmart otc that will help. I’ll be sure to get it checked if it gets worse.

Hi Janet,
Is the rash bilateral? and to mid calf? Any bites? The inflammation could be just like you think, heat. If symptoms change, i.e. itchy, increasing rash, increasing edema, change in sensation, this could indicate infection.

We also stayed in that rundown, crappy motel. The only thing worse would have been to have to ride farther that day!

You are almost out of Montana, and then North Dakota is similar as far as being in the High Plains. But the winds change and it will be your friend again. The winds seemed to be against us all through North Dakota as we’re heading west, and then they’ve been friendly since we got in Montana. So you never know. Sorry we missed you guys, best of luck as you continue eastward. Here’s a special tip; in Oxford Junction, IA, go into the bar and ask for Donna, the owner- she can arrange for you to sleep in the community center with A/C and running water instead of camping in the park with only a porta-potty. They do it all the time for cyclists, but it’s not listed on the ACA map. Best of luck,

Looks like Janet sprouted a bush from her helmet in this photo!😁

You got this Janet! Just keep pedaling, it's not a race, take the breaks as you need, easy as it goes you'll get down the road and click off the miles.

I am totally enjoying your weekly updates Janet. Hearing about this journey from your perspective is great and I literally can hear your voice (and your laughter) as I read the storyline! Feeling for you in the pain department----not fun! But you got this! Heat wave is here so sending you all supportive hi-fives as you make your way through this crazy weather. Hugs and love to you and, of course, the boys!
