After your recent riding weather, it almost seems appropriate that you finish by racing a hurricane. Happy Final Day!

Hi Carol,
Thanks for the encouragement and the story. Actually, Janet wanted to bring an umbrella on the trip. We wouldn’t let her because of the weight. I think she proved (again) that she the smartest one of us.
Take care!

The show must go on! Way to keep pursuing your dreams, but be safe. Reading your blog and seeing the weather forecast brings the image of the Morton Salt girl. When it rains it pours - actually that’s a positive logo and image. In 1911 Morton Salt invented a method to package salt to prevent clumping when wet. And the resulting product and packaging still exists today - enduring character building memories! Thank you for sharing your experience in this blog - your team is awesome! I think you are finishing with a flourish, despite the rain!

Sadly, it looks like your Thursday ride will be very wet too. Just looked at the Doppler for where you are (from our sunny and dry sunroom) and it does not look good into the weekend either. Probably good that your adventure did start out this way. I had figured you would run into different travel issues once in the much more populated parts of the country, so glad you were able to book things that still made sense for the end of your journey. Stay well!!
Oh, today is my last day of adult noon hour swim time at the local outdoor pool. That's more of a fun way to be all over wet! Does make you think summer is winding down here in the Wisconsin though ;-)

I am sad to hear your photo and journal journey is coming to an end but so impressed you made it! We visited with your son Rylan & our Hilary last weekend in L.A. and Rylan mentioned you'd be all done in a couple of weeks....sooner than I realized. Looks like Hurricane Fred caught up to you all and is keeping New England green prior to its beautiful fall colors. Safe travels as you wrap up your trip and congratulations! Paul & Amy Teaford

First of all, welcome to my state. Sorry about all the rain. And yes, we unfortunately have a lot of roads with no shoulders. One reason, I guess, to try to find those gravel roads. :-)

You guys are tough, for sure! I hope drier weather is on the way for you. I was thinking exactly what Mike said, you had a character building day. In the future, you may forget many events from this trip, but you will never forget this day!

We used to call a day like that character building!

Kerry and I have thought it would be fun to travel in the canal in one of those boats with bicycles onboard.

You have ridden what we think is the very best part of the Erie Canal trail. The trail, the towns and the history are so enjoyable. I hope you stay dry this weekend!
