Bill Shaneyfelt commented on a photo in three-way, grasshoppers, one cheek to blackjack

Plains lubber grasshopper. They can appear in incredible hordes.

Yummy ripe prickly pears! But watch out for the glochids.

Mark Bingham replied to a comment by Gregory Garceau on the gift, erin, klaus is not my friend, this is the life

It's common knowledge that hair tends to fall out when it's attached to a Tough Guy.... Yul Brynner, Sean Connery, Sir Patrick Stewart, Samuel Jackson, Bruce Willis, Dwayne Johnson... I could go on. My only surprise is that you ever grew any at all.

That unnamed individual (who wasn't you) did have funny-looking hair, but at least he HAD hair. I haven't had hair on the top of my head for about 40 years, yet I still go to a barber with a striped pole. And even though he only has to trim the sides, I still have to pay full price.

Interesting you ran into Erin Coye. I remember him from the Crazyguyonabike forums.

Teddy bear cholla. Really nasty as you can readily see! Hurts getting stuck and hurts getting unstuck...

Mark Bingham replied to a comment by Dino Angelici on training for the tour, part one: the farmer's blow

I always carry bandanas, and have found them useful for more things than even duct tape. Now I can add one more item to their list of potential uses!

Dino Angelici commented on training for the tour, part one: the farmer's blow

My nose runs constantly whenever I am riding. Not necessarily allergies. Colder air increases discharge. I keep an old bandana in my pocket and use it carefully. I have used the farmers blow technique but it is not always without consequence. If the mucus is "ropey," it does not always separate cleanly and can end up on the face or shoulder (of your body, not the road). So, I've settled on the old bandana. Some think using something and putting it back in your pocket is unsanitary but I think it is better than other possibilities, especially if the jacket or shirt are laundered regularly.

I was checking out the journals on Cycleblaze before heading to the grocery store. I delayed my grocery shopping when I saw your new journal. I thought, "Yay! Mark has another one!" So I read the first page.

I'll read the rest when I get back. (Anxiously awaiting the story of the world's worst burrito.)
