We joked that since we had to remove the pedals at least no one could do a grab and ride, and one staffer replied that some staff had their their own pedals. Haha.

It still gives us nervous tummies every time. If the bike does not arrive in rideable condition it can be a real game ender.

Walking around London today, and riding over the next few days, will be as much about noticing the reactions of the country to the changeover as about looking at the scenery or sights. And yes, the relief we felt when BOTH bikes were spotted at oversize luggage was very real. Getting the duffel bag also was gravy.

Thanks Gregory. We try to be honest in our assessments but not unkind. Negative comment is never written except as a genuine reflection of what we saw and felt. If we find something really terrific we describe it that way too.

Thanks Polly. There do seem to be a lot of Archbishops for such a relatively small country. Perhaps a know your Archbishop thread WOULD help.

Oh yes, us too. It feels very strange to ride on the "wrong" side of the road and right turns are a real problem. Keep repeating-cross the road and turn to the right.

Unfortunately there is no agreement that gets us past the Schengen rules. Since we left the Schengen zone on July 12 we cannot reenter until 90 days later, which is October 10, thus the first month in England. We will plan to leave for France around mid October and take about 5 weeks to get to the south. It takes careful calculations but it can be done.

All the best for your UK France sojourn

‘Air tags for Dummies’
Thanks for the useful information about how the Tile and Apple Air Tags work. You spent a lot of time sorting out the pros and cons you could title this page This is something I will definitely be getting when I next take my bike overseas. Us oldies need things written in simple terms Thanks Steve

When you first put your travel intentions up I was wondering how your getting around the Schengen Visa as you are going to France, but on thinking about I guess Canada and France have reciprocal extended travel arrangements??

Enjoy
Cheers Sandy

Should make for interesting times over there. Glad the bikes made it!

That one’s the Archbish of York! (Perhaps we should do a ‘know your archbishops’ thread, to parallel the Andersons’ ‘know your sheep’..)

Some might say you shouldn't be so judgmental. From my perspective, however, please continue to judge. I like reading about the foibles, shortcomings, quirks, and goofiness of foreign lands. (Just as they enjoy making fun of the foibles, shortcomings, quirks and goofiness of North America.)

Hope those bikes arrive intact and no one grabs them and goes off on a bike tour after you guys have done all the work.

After seeing multiple examples of what has happened to people's wheelchairs, I'm not sure I'd trust my bike being transported in a plastic bag. But I'm guessing you've done this before.
