The profusion of satellite dishes is reminiscent of fungi on dead trees.
2 years agoYes, we looked ahead to Cambridge and could not find one very central or reasonably priced. When a Premier falls down, what features are involved?
2 years agoGreggs are an institution! (That doesn't mean they're any good, mind you...) They've even got a range of cycle kit: https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/greggs-and-primark-launch-fashion-collaboration-including-new-cycling-shorts
2 years agoGlad this worked out for you. Just an FYI though - we stayed at two or three others and wasn’t impressed by any of the others as much as this one.
2 years agoWhat a great experience! Sorry we missed this one.

2 years agoOh, and also WOW what a day that must have been. One you will not soon forget, or at least not without a lot of expensive psychotherapy.
2 years agoIf the number of available power outlets continues to be problematic, try looking for something that converts one to three. Mine has three standard outlets and also three USB sockets. It was very helpful several times on my trip.

2 years agoHuh. In 33 days on the road I think I saw exactly *one* other Friday. Here you show two besides your own, within a few miles of setting off.
2 years agoI was on a peak summer tour, so didn't have the complications of packing for two seasons. But I was camping and carrying cookware, a small stove, fuel, and food as well as tent, sleeping pad, and down quilt. All in, and included 7 pounds of CPAP batteries, my gear weight was around 60 pounds when I had freshly resupplied my food and snacks.
The bike, a New World Tourist, tips the scales at 25 to 27 pounds if I recall correctly, so a total of 80 to 82 pounds before water. Add almost a gallon of water in four bottles and a 2 liter CamelBak and it's 90 pounds.
Did you have your Fridays retrofitted for e-Assist? That may be something that causes me to reconsider selling mine. I will ride my Rodriguez (once it's built and delivered) as long as I can, but at some point it'll become untenable.
2 years agoAfter a month of lugging the dratted things around I came to loathe my CPAP batteries but would have hated the poor sleep I get without them even more. I can't imagine what 12 batteries would have been like, even though they aren't all the size and weight of the ones I was carrying.
2 years agoAnother possible sealant option would be Sugru. No idea if you can get it in Europe, but it likely would be a quite permanent solution to your problem.

Nice to see you soldiering on, despite all the travails and woes. Here's hoping you luck turns for the better soon, and stays that way.
