Dodie, and our Victoria mechanic, strongly recommend not installing a new controller unless the existing one gives proof of being absolutely and totally dead. If it continues to function intermittently we will probably try to baby it along and deal with it (much like the aching teeth) on our return.

The new controller would never work if I were in charge. That is way more complex than I could manage! Kudos to you for your ability to figure this stuff out.

While having a coffee in a tea shop watching a roof being thatched with straw, we were told in no uncertain terms, by a rather posh lady. "That's not real thatch. Proper thatch is reeds coming from the Norfolk area. "

Seems to match photos of Cyclamen. (Almost like cycle man...)

Hi, I was interested in your Battle Abbey pic- in the 1970s when we lived in London for a while, Ann, my wife, nursed Mrs Webster who owned the Abbey but had to sell it. Her son, Simon, took us for a tour of the abbey, but being stony broke had to travel down to Hastings in our lime green Escort van. I recently researched what happened to the family, and it’s a fascinatingly weird tale! Cheers, Michael Hutching (Retyrementon2wheels)

Thanks for the brief tour of Oxford! We will be there in a month, now I am more excited than ever to see this historic place.

So happy the trip has taken a turn for the better!

That's quite a span between construction and renovation. Based on that, and assuming a straight-line trend, the next cycle should be due around 2283.

If that's the view looking back whence you came, ERF! Hope your e-assist was operating as it was supposed to.

Not to mention low clearance... steer a straight course, Skipper, or you're aground.

Hopefully the bridge doesn't go up with bikes still parked on it.

That thing must weigh 75 pounds, even without kids and cargo aboard. Good thing it is fitted with truck tires. Looks as though it may also have e-assist, judging by the assembly at the crank and the heavy cabling coming from the handlebars.

Still, is a form of EV so better than an internal combustion engine vehicle for shortish trips on days with decent weather.

The next train possibility might take place in a few days. Two and a bit hours to travel 23 km!! Three different trains! Oh my, this place needs help.
