Thanks Sandy! Perversely tomorrow we are going to try to replicate the British Sunday Dinner, including sticky toffee pudding and Yorkshire pudding. Both of these can be a bit tricky, and we found lots of variations on the methods and ingredients of the sticky toffee. One universal ingredient is medjool dates, which we bought a pile of today.
1 year agoHi Steve and Dodie
I’ll miss your daily updates, for those of us not on any long tours at this time it’s always fun to follow a great journal.
I agreed the whole time you were cycling the UK….. the interesting tourist highlights are great but the cycling between places can be a nightmare, at the end of the day is it worth it??
I liked your southern France entries, now that’s a place worth going, always annoyed I missed the Carmague because my travel companion at the time couldn’t see the point in going there…..it’s on my personal bucket list and would love to follow in the ‘Grampies’ footsteps, such an interesting route. Of note will be finding the roast chicken and potato vendors, thanks for great food stories
Enjoy your winter at home, stay warm and safe, looking forward to reading about the Grampies on their next tour
Cheers
Sandy
wetco ?
1 year agoThanks Sue and Jim. In southern France the weather was equivalent to what we would call mid Autumn here, while right this moment we are experiencing the very beginning of Winter. It's only about an 8 degree C difference, but in the one case you feel like cycling and in the other it is already too damp and chilly.
Of course none of that is paddle boarding!
Yes, hope to see you asap!
Glad you made it home safe and sound! We are currently "on the road" enjoying beaches, snorkelling and paddle boarding in lieu of cycling. Hope to see you when we return in March (unless you've taken off again!)
1 year agoThe constant scanning of boarding passes is such a nuisance, and none of the people doing the scans seem to know why they are doing it. Weird.
2 years agoWe do seem to try to keep up with our neighbours. Unfortunate.
2 years agoI thought US airport personnel must be the most calloused and dictatotrial. It seems the Canadians are right up there with them.
2 years agoSometimes I wonder how many airport employees have been hired simply to scan boarding passes and passports. It seems a rather excessive number. What do they do with all those scannings? Is there some big magic database that tracks all of these? I last flew Iceland air. In that small airport my boarding pass and passport were scammed no less than three times. All I was doing was catching a connecting flight. That was last year and I’m still bitter about it. I do hope you contact that airport and chastise them severely for harassing Dodie. Totally uncalled for.
2 years agoWOW what an armada!
2 years agoThe variety of santons was impressive? Any idea whether they'll be coming out with a Lego edition anytime soon? ;)
(Note: your video shows as "Private" to me, and is therefore unavailable.)
That's an especially nice portrait.
2 years agoI'm loving those hats!
2 years agoHi,
A French folk remedy for leg cramps is to put a bar of Marseille soap at the foot of your bed at night. I’ve never tried it, but it was recommended to me, maybe with young in cheek.
Cheers,
Keith
I was anticipating the end of tour pie charts! One of my favorite additions of the Grampie's tours. I was starting to wonder if I'd ever see them again!
