If treated, a cold usually goes away in about seven days. Left untreated, it can take up to a week before it's gone.
Fingers crossed for your e-Assist repair!
Good haggling on the repair price!
2 years agoHi Steve and Dodie, just looked at your projected route in France. A few weeks back we cycled in Bourgogne and came through the Route des Vignes from Beaune to Santenay. We then circled the short distance to Chagny and from there took the very direct and straight D981 to Givry from where there is a brilliant voie verte that basically takes you all the way to Macon. We’ve described it in our blog Retyrementon2wheels6. There’s a bit of a hill after Cluny, but with e-assist……. Bonne route, Michael
2 years agoBon rétablissement cher ami! Let’s hope that the repairs are as good as they look.
2 years agoNext time you’re here, look at the names engraved on the underside of the arch. My family name will be among them, although I don’t think I am related less than very distantly to that general of Napoleon.
2 years agoYes it could and put a real damper on your trip. Keep em rolling!
2 years agoMany of the vendors are illegal immigrants. They get their stock from a « controller » to whom goes much of the profits. Nobody pays taxes, or contributes to the social, so yeah, they are considered a nuisance. Much political capital is expended/generated in proposing solutions to the problems of exploitation and immigration. Most of the vendors seem like nice folks, but a real solution to their plight, e.g. a real job, seems to be forever out of reach. Most will eventually become integrated and become good citizens.
2 years agoHi,
Invalides in front, pantheon farther away.
Cheers,
Keith
Water ingress ? hope Dr Jonathan found and solved the problem with your bike. Stay dry.
2 years agoWe also are really glad to gave two working e-assists, Steve so he won't have to crank hard all day, and Dodie so the load can once again be equally split (she has been carrying more than 2/3's to help Steve out). The cold, as are most, seems to be a one week wonder, so Dodie is almost better now and Steve should be not far behind.
2 years agoSo do we, Jacquie, so do we.
2 years agoWhat a relief for you both, to have two working e-bikes again. Hope that cold goes away quickly. I enjoy reading your journal each day after lunch with my final coffee for the day.
2 years agoI hope the repair holds up, at least for the remainder of your trip!
2 years agoIt's not like we try to fall down! The knee doesn't hurt but there is a bit of bruising and some puffiness. Still, it could be worse, we suppose.

So glad you found someone to repair your bike! Hope you feel better soon, Steve. On another note, we met a young cycle tourist from France yesterday as we were out for a ride. He had ridden from Calgary and I'm assuming rode to Prince Rupert and then took the ferry over - can't think of another way he would have gone to end up in Nanaimo. He was heading to the ferry and then the airport to go home. He sure picked the perfect time as it's been sunny and warm here for the last month - finally expecting some rain tomorrow!
