Not passable. How much of this slog was there?
2 years agoStill passable, but not great.
2 years agoUh oh.
2 years agoRaspberry tartelettes at my local patisserie are currently sold at $8.50 U.S., so 2.50 Euros seems a bargain to me.
2 years agoToo bad we only opened your message long after we left Tournus, so no church peeking for us. Maybe next time.
2 years agoHi,
Great to know the voie blue is complete between Chalons and Tournus. Take a peek in the church while you are there, it’s worth the visit.
Cheers,
Keith
Hi,
It was great to see you two. I hope the ride south goes great. I’ve got a few observations:
I need a haircut, badly! If only there was more hair to cut…..
The food was exactly what I had hoped. A real French meal with good food , good friends, and great conversation.
Chagny is not a pretty village. It’s a railroad junction and if you had cast your eyes across the port you would have seen one of the biggest tile works in France. But the town is prosperous.
Thanks for coming by. I really enjoyed the meeting and the meal, and Sue did too.
Cheers,
Keith
Hilarious

2 years agoJust an observation you might consider. We never carry our passports around with us into anyplace except where they’re specifically needed. They’re always kept stuffed down in a secure spot one of our panniers where they’re less likely to get lost or lifted. Of course it’s still possible to lose that specific entire pannier, as we did once; but that was nearly 20 years ago now.
2 years agoIn Europe, I just use Maps.me and make up my own route based on joining interesting places. Sometimes this includes following cycling routes, other times my own random way. I find that part of the enjoyment of touring is making your won route
