Steve Miller/Grampies replied to a comment by Jeanna & Kerry Smith on a photo in Day 8: Hohenwarthe to Arneburg

I actually said "Don't fall, Don't die, be careful". Same idea, different wording. Dodie

I’m starting to think you choose your routes for the possible story value. I really wonder what Dodie’s thoughts are on some of them.

This is the cliff you took the bikes down??? It likes like something Kerry would do while I stood at the top saying no way, no way, don't try it!

Team Frasier says that a 50k day is just fine. We just slow down and take more pictures!

That's a Hundertwasser building. The "Green Citadel of Magdeburg". I hope you got a bit closer!

Sorry about your trouble finding lodging. You’re right you should slow down and make sure you have lodging. You can always add extra bicycling when you get to your destination. It’s definitely harder finding lodging than before Covid.

I hope Dodie got a good rest! Those are pretty long days you have been putting in. A long day in the saddle without knowing where I was going to sleep that night would really put me to the test. We never set out without a booking for the night any more - in the old days that was a different story.

Those Lutherans were pretty straight-laced, I prefer the theatrical Catholic interiors, too.

You have been doing such long distances for the start of a trip, something we always seem to do then regret it. Dodie I do hope you feel better after a good nights sleep hope tomorrow is better

George (Buddy) Hall commented on The Meaning of Life?

"The Meaning of Life" - interesting. There's a lot of ways that could go. My Transam journal originally included "Buddy Rides a Bike and Re-Discovers the Meaning of Life" as part of the title when it was first published on that other site, but I eventually shortened it and cut off the "Meaning of Life" part. But a portion of the Epilogue in that journal references the meaning of life as found on my journey (I don't think you can put a link in a comment or I would). I'll be interested in following along to see what aspects you discuss of the meaning of life. I spent 6 months in Germany in 2019 (Weisbaden area), so I'll be very interested in your photos and tour as well. Best of luck and "ein dunkles Bier" for me please!

So sorry about the food situation and detours. You are both really tough! We’ve had issues with finding food several times so I always have a stash!! Easter Monday is a pain.
