Booking doesn’t always list the cheapest places or even the best rates in my experience. Sometimes you can have better luck by calling the TI in your target town, assuming someone picks up that speaks your language. Probably rates will go back down once you get past the Bodensee area. Hopefully.

Seems like a perfect time to need to empty a water bottle...out the window. You’re just “watering the plants”. Didn’t see ya down there. Then throw in a good Canadian “sorry.”

Those prices look insane something we have always found in Switzerland Reminds me of cycling along the Italian Riviera in 2019. Your banker will be pleased when you reach the Chez Republic We found Poland and Hungry reasonable too

You're hilarious - here in Seattle you will easily pay $6.50 USD for the fancier pastries and without the ambiance!

Munich. Right in the heart of it! Schwabing neighbourhood on Hohenstaufenstrasse just west of several other great reasons for living: the English Garten and the world's best bier und haxen.

Sorry for the late reply - hope it's not too late!

Legless lizard, or in Germany a blindschleiche. Caught a few while living near Kaiserslautern back in the mid '70s.

It’s also Mothers Day today eh! Was wondering what the Germans do with that - is it just a North American invention? Regardless - happy etc to our mom!!
