Wow, lovely view with the floor to ceiling windows!
1 year agoInteresting - staying in a shipping container!
1 year agoI didn't know that the Japanese really like baseball. :) Great that older people enjoy playing it!
1 year agoYes, very quick change of weather for you all -- sunny and warm one day, cold rain and windy the next!
1 year agoLucky you to enjoy such nice warm weather! :)
1 year agoThank you for your most interesting journal. I love all the photos and detailed descriptions of the food. Your travels in Okinawa reminded me of the book "The Okinawa Program" written in 2001. At that time Okinawans were considered the healthiest, longest-lived population in the world because of their diet, exercise and lifestyle practices. I wonder if that is still true. Happy Boxing Day!
1 year agoI wonder what the history is of this statue?
1 year agoThe habu is the most dangerous snake on Okinawa. A friend who had a 2 year tour there got nicknamed Habu because he was big and tough looking.

I see a pretty nice ginseng root on the right too!
Too right. You can count on Japan for humour and fun touches.
1 year agoHa! Looks like skinny sumo wrestlers...
1 year agoThanks for that Susan. I don’t know if you want to share, but I wondered what your experience was like growing up in Japan. As visitors we see things from a different perspective, but Japan has really touched us. We love it here. Appreciate your comments.
1 year agoIt was a wonderful day of riding.
1 year agoYou’re right Susan, it does look great in the photos. However, it is hard to catch the decay, lack of cleanliness and broken down parts. We were honestly just glad to be inside. Plus we like to find something positive, and the people were friendly. So that will be our memory. The bad is gone.
1 year agoYeah, I'm not sure. It's probably strong enough but still the thought of being caught during an earthquake would scare me.

Interesting that they don't let you into the public baths with tattoos - - but nice that they offer a band-aid looking item to cover a tattoo... However, some people have tattoos that cover a lot of their bodies....I guess they couldn't go in at all --
