Hi Trish, I have a friend who says always keep the rubber under you! I know Keith wrote but I had to add my own heartfelt relief that only your phone screen suffered an injury. After my flip over the handle bars drafting behind Keith last year...onto soft ground, no harm done...I swore I would never draft again. There I was, drafting yesterday, otherwise I don’t think I would have made it to Chur because of a ferocious head wind. We took a needed rest day today. From the looks of things we will be riding in the rain tomorrow. Stay safe! We are so enjoying your blog.

Hi Trish - glad to hear you weren’t injured. Isn’t this the second tumble this trip for you guys. Don’t be making a habit of that,! Finding hotels that you have booked can be a hassle. I solved that issue for the most part by locating the hotel on Galileo and then placing a bearing point to it on Galileo. Works great for us. Take care and stay vertical on those bikes.

Tricia and Ken,
Rain in Berlin, what's new? It's like you can count on it.
Wouldn't it be nice if ebikes guaranteed no spills? I have taken one on my new bike as well, just a week or so after I got it. Right on my "involed" hip onto a pile of soccer balll sized decorative boulders lining the path. No damage but it totally freaked me (and Maun) out and, I hope, taught me a lesson about being more careful.
Otherwise a very nice ride, be sure to include a picture of your hotel, we just might be in your tracks. Gute Weiterfahrt!

Thanks Steve you know I didn't even notice the cyclist in the picture till you commented on it. Berlin is alive with cyclist
6 years agoGreat minds think alike! As regards the ebike the one we have bought is just perfect for me. It has a Bosch Active motor with 4 levels of assist. I am yet to use any level except Eco which is the lowest level. This was even on the day when we had a stiff headwind all day. At this I have no problem at all keeping up with Ken. At the end of the day I feel I could ride another 20 km. It has 400wH, we had wanted 500wH, but this is absolutely adequate eg at the end of the day yesterday after 57km the display said I could still ride 98km at the present level. has 7 chain gears which we wanted they are easily used - we wanted chain gears because it makes changing back tyres so much easier. Price was reasonable 1999E
Just hope we can find some place to store it when we get to Munich
Regards
Tricia
Interesting cyclist in a clearly not Spandex burka.
6 years agoTricia and Ken,
Good to see you on the road again. And what a perfect solution to the ebike situation. We will be following your ride very closely to see how it works out.
Once again I think we have stayed in the same hotel. Last summer we stayed in the Ibis right next to the Wittenberg U Bahn station but on a previous trip we were in Mitte, all very nice. We, too, love Berlin, we'll enjoy it with you through your journal. Gute Reise!

Love the bull as a hood ornament. Adds a lot of class.
6 years agoI like liver but your description of your massive serving was certainly daunting..great pictures and it all seems to be going well. 👌💕
6 years agoThat. Is the route we would like to do next year. Will be very interested to see how you get on
6 years agoYes he is what always gets us out of a pickle
6 years agoSuch a pleasure to follow your blog. I was interested in your comment on "Mr Google." I discovered Google Maps a few months ago, and it's been an absolute game changer for me getting around Auckland.
6 years agoIt looks like you did a great job getting yourselves outfitted in a remarkably short time for your trip! Well done! I, too, find the e-bike a joy to ride.
You seem to be having a wonderful tour so far! Looking forward to the rest of your journey.
We will be leaving for a tour of our own tomorrow. First to Salzburg and from there we will follow the Alpe-Adria bike route to the Adriatic coast. I won't be posting while traveling but hope to catch up when we are back, in two or three weeks.

Agree with you completely today we arrived at midday for a 3pm check in. My new bike is fantastic I had been worried about range but the most I have used is 2 lines out of 5 on a 70k day Haven’t need to use more than the lowest level of assist and Ken and I stay together all the time. The best news which will appeal to you Dodie is that for the first time for 3 years I am riding with NO pain at all. The next two days are fairly short so intend leaving later because thank goodnesss it is cooler
Love
Tricia
Thank God, only broke the phone screen without any injury. Ride safely with a lot of fun. Love💌🚴🚵
