Well done. It seems the weather is helping bring it all to an end. Loved your journey as always. Enjoy the last few daysxx😀
6 years agoEeeek! Bare ankles! No wonder you were cold. I am with Dodie, not just longer socks but wool ones. Good New Zealand wool ones!!
6 years agoI'm sorry your ride is over too but I sure had a good time following. Thanks for all the tractors, a love I never knew I had. 😍
Looking forward to Paris tho.
That is what we wondered

A good idea Dodie. I think if we were going much further we would be buying serious warm clothes
6 years agoDodie also suggests longer socks!
6 years agoYes. Had a pretty hard day today freezing cold, it was quite steep uphill, some loose gravel, about 70km. Tomorrow is only 40km and beside the river then the job of getting the storage sorted starts
Hope Dodie is continuing to make good progress
Tricia
Ah, so you have left the Donau and are now shooting toward Munich...
6 years agoHello Tricia
I've been reading and enjoying your cycling journals for a couple of years now, having heard of you and your adventures from my friend in Cambridge, Jill, who I think you've met.
We've cycled in Europe on a much smaller scale in the last 2 years. Like you, we've taken our bikes from NZ. And like you, we are seriously considering buying bikes over there next August and storing them. We like Zurich as a base, and initial research suggests we would pay around NZ$500-600 a year to rent a 3cu m self storage unit there.
So I'm following with interest what you decide to do with your bikes in the next few days! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Regards
Robyn
The Danube is indeed blue. Have you any more pictures from the Audi Museum?
6 years agoIf your schedule allows, it would be fun to meet for a coffee when you are in Munich! You can contact me at:

Sounds like you have had a lovely trip.

Dear Tricia, dear Ken,
I have only just realized you are cycling in Germany as I have been away for the last 10 months myself and didn´t really log into cycleblaze since I left for New Zealand (where my wife Karen comes from) from Penang in May. So I quickly scanned your journal and learnt the storage of your bikes is a concern. We could have talked about storing them in my garage but time and your location in the south of the country may be the problem as I will be leaving again for South East Asia (and NZ later on) mid-October. All the same we might get into touch and talk through it. My email is roettgenf@gmail.com where we could exchange telephone numbers if you wish. Enjoy your ride to Munich and its Oktoberfest!
It has been a great trip. So much time in the old 'east' has been particular;y interesting and certainly pointed out to us the difficulties of covering from communism

Yes we certainly struck a cold patch but forecast for the next few days for warmer weather but we have only had half a day of rain the whole trip. Hope to get rid of the bikes this morning, another day in Munich then to Paris to see Louise and then the long flight home
