Kathleen,
'Charge' is what it looked like to me also. Though 'change' makes more sense to me.
Jeff
Bill,
I have some friends who are avid bird watchers. I received an email from them a few days after posting this photo. Here's what it said: "We showed your hawk picture (from Day 95, ending at Velva) to the folks at our local Wild Birds Unlimited, and they identified it as a Northern Harrier (also known as a Marsh Hawk). From the coloring, it was an immature (i.e., first year) bird, probably a male."
Comparing internet pictures of the two, they look the same to me!
Jeff
Steve,
It was great having you along!
Jeff
Kelly,
Thanks! I was smiling all afternoon :-)
Jeff
George,
Thanks! I'd never been so far north on a bicycle before.
Jeff
Nancy,
Thanks! I was happy to see the border, and turn my focus toward home. Thanks for following along so faithfully!
Jeff
Jodi,
I'm sure you know by now things went well for me all the rest of the way home. I'm finally getting caught up on posting replies to unanswered journal comments - sorry I'm so late.
Thanks for following along, and for your heart-warming care.
Jeff
If you had been able to closely examine the petrified wood, you might have even been able to see woodgrain. Not always, but often very easily seen. I have a few specimens that show it very clearly.
1 year agoKathleen,
Thanks! I wasn't home yet, but it felt good to be heading that way.
Sorry this reply is so late.
Jeff
Scott,
Wheel replacement? August 25 ;-)
Jeff
Steve,
I remember sitting at desks similar, but newer than this. At the time I wondered what the hole at the upper right was for – ink bottles I later learned.
Jeff
Nancy,
I'm certainly glad the bike didn't fall apart going downhill!
Yes, so many kind people . . . there is hope.
Jeff
Nancy,
Thanks! What I wasn't able to do was keep up with replies to comments received. Not being able to later correct spelling and grammar errors makes me hesitant to type them up too quickly.
Jeff
Greg,
$10 isn't as good as free city park camping, but is certainly reasonable.
Jeff
Kathleen,
1 year agoThanks for sharing all your research findings. Definitely interesting stats ;-)
