How great!
1 year agoI love storks!
1 year agoI’ll bet your frontage road is really quiet too. It’s the old highway that was replaced by the A-20. Our experience with roads like this in central Spain is that they feel like a four lane wide bike path.
1 year agoOh yeah, that's my kind of place
1 year agoWe aren't doing very well at carrying food with us. I wanted apples and bananas from the fruiteria next door. It was open when we got here. Then closed when we came back from lunch. I thought it would be open again tonight, but it isn't. I like an apple halfway through my daily ride, but have had trouble accomplishing that this trip.
Bananas are very hard to come by, oddly. Even Jacinto isn't carrying food, because when we do eat a late lunch, we are starving and eat it all. Rooms don't have a fridge or microwave. They just don't. There's a learning curve to all of this. The actual cycling is wonderful. check back in with me when the real climbing starts!
Tonight they left a new, opened wine bottle on the table and said that it, plus the bottle of water were included with our menu' del dia. I didn't know you could have the whole bottle. Maybe that was just this place? What is your experience?
We were looking for tapas, but they had the same tapas at this restaurant this evening that they had at noon. We looked at them then also. We ended up in the restaurant. I ordered a plate of grilled veggies. Jacinto bought a menu' del dia, which I thought was a lunch thing. Now it is 10 PM and we just ate!
You know better than anyone!
1 year agoIt's going so well because you made us such a great route! How could you pick ALL of these roads with no cars?
Of course, I just wrote that big piece in the journal about lack of cars and people and tomorrow we ride a frontage road for almost 20 miles into Ciudad Rodrigo. There isn't another choice. then we head to La Alberca - back to the quiet roads.
this was in one of the little towns in-between today. I didn't make a note which one. Every little town had storks, but some of the steeples were so tall that a cell phone can't zoom in enough to get a good photo.
1 year agoI can’t tell you how much it pleases me to see how well this is going for you!
1 year agoThis is Zamora, right? We saw more storks in Zamora than any place else we’ve ever been.
1 year agoI like the door!
1 year agoI wish I was surprised. I was horrified, but unsurprised.
1 year agoUnfortunately I can testify that the Mexican food in France is even worse. :(

I’m so glad to hear Jacinto’s doing better and how well things are working out!
