I actually stopped scrolling to google the flag - I only got a reversed result from race car stuff. (I tried!)

The correct fitting to hold the pad in place in the metal holder is a very small split pin which you open to hold the pad in place.
If you have lost the pin the paper clip which can extend 12mm or 1/2 inch below the pad will hold it in an emergency.

I did think it’s too bad that wire is so thin, a paper clip would be just the thing. But it fits?

The "silver wire"
In an emergency you can straighten half a paperclip and stick it into your brake pad.

It is 5:30 AM. I am up this early to try and beat the heat on our long day. I have the window open in the bathroom and just heard two bells. It was faint enough that I couldn’t hear two tones. I also haven’t seen the church here. They might have only one bell. Happily the walls are thick in Spain and we usually hear nothing in the bedroom!

Different size, different tones - the larger the bell, the lower the pitch. Listen for the difference the next time you hear them.

He appears anatomically correct.

When we were in Spain, about 20 years ago, we were told that very few houses are stick-built because the country was deforested during the Age of Exploration and lumber was too expensive. In fact, we saw groves of Ash trees in many areas that people planted as "retirement groves."

I am so happy to see that the historical structures are being taken care of - that is so admirable. Something like the aqueduct in the US would be covered with graffiti.

Also, note that the bells are a different size so they’ll peal at a different pitch.

Yes. It looks like the added weight of those storks could flip the wall over on its side.

The lack of ice is definitely an issue in Europe. It’s also near impossible to find a cold drink from a grocery store. I really like sparkling water, especially flavored sparkling water after a ride and would like it to be cold.

He has a whole different approach than I do. The day to La Alberta, there are three possibilities. One has 6,000 feet of climbing, one 4,000, and our route has 2,400. Now he is hoping to take a long route to enjoy himself. I think he paid attention when I pointed out moderation is valuable with a freshly recovered knee. We shall see!
