Gregory Garceau replied to a comment by Suzanne Gibson on Some Conclusions Not Necessarily Based On Fact

Hi Suzanne,
Yes I DO have some more journals, and yes I Do want to publish them again. I've had a lot of fun doing that here. And I really appreciate your continued support.

Heroic is sure one way to describe such an effort!

Hi Adam, and thank you very much for the message.

As a Minnesotan, I feel your frozen-Chicago-wasteland pain. I ride all year round, and have even dreamed of doing a wintertime tour in the midwest, but even I know that finishing a bike trip on Lake Superior this time of year is just plain ridiculous. (But, damn, it sure would be heroic, wouldn't it.)

I realize that you didn't just finish this ride as I look out upon the Frozen wasteland of Chicago from my office window, but I'm still compelled to write that this was a pretty good read. Thanks for letting me follow along.

Well, I'm a reporter for the purposes of this journal only. No REAL publication would put up with my antics. But you're right--my true calling was and always will be paint. (Oh my God, I can't believe I just wrote that.)

It seems everybody had a clue except me.

A reporter? I’m obviously not a careful reader and I have a terrible memory, but I thought you were a paint salesman. Multiple talents?

I’m always late to the party. I was going to point out that these are undoubtedly poison ivy scratches too, but Mike got there first.

Hi Mike,
I think you're probably right. They definitely look more like blackberry thorn scratches than chain ring gouges. Even though it's now three years after the fact, I'm more than a little embarrassed. Thanks.

Yup, I'm going to go with the Red Pine (pinus resinosa) option.

Blackberry vines perhaps?

Pines for sure, but can't tell from the picture which of the 3 species found in the area...
