Thank you, Nate. I have also recently seen some on some socks.

As have I. They’ve been a real highlight of the journal. An inspiring cast of characters!

2 years agoSeaside is an interesting place, New Urbanism design, The Truman Show was filmed there and the sand squeaks. Grayton Beach had a happy hour, a buck a shuck for the oysters at Hurricane Bar and Grill.

2 years agoBrian,
Not sure if you're aware of it, but Rohloff makes a chain tensioner. It's a little pricey but works great. I use it on both my tandem and single bikes. As an added feature, it allows me to run a compact (50x39) crankset up front. If you REALLY want to gear down, put a 16 tooth sprocket on the hub, switch to the small chainring up front, and shift the hub into 1st gear - a cadence of 80 will result in a speed of about 3MPH (but hey, you can climb a wall!).

I wear a Salamander brand snowboarding helmet visor on my helmet. It has withstood many a downhill pass here in Colorado. I never take it off. But, it is not a brim, just a visor.
I saw many DaBrims in Tucson this winter. They are great in the sun.
Seems like more trouble than it's worth to peel and eat those tiny crawfish!
2 years agoAmazes me that you still bike many miles on your layover days. I know it's only a fraction of your normal daily ride, but I would think you'd relish your "no butt in seat" time!

Curious coincidence! A thoughtful friend once gifted me some Bigfoot socks. (The socks are sized for human feet)
