Interesting. I was brought up Catholic (I'm very lapsed) but always associated the Angelus with mediæval abbeys. On the other hand, Assumption was just last week and it's a big national holiday in France. I think for most people, it's just a long weekend.
5 years agoIf bad weather is forecast, I put off buying lunch supplies and plan to eat in a restaurant. The trouble can sometimes be finding one. Many villages don't have one anymore.

The bells in the morning and at noon are the Angelus. A very Catholic tradition for a supposedly secular country, don’t you think?

We have seen lots of plastic fields as well.
5 years agoOur weather is changing as well ...it was a good run. Hope it improves for you. Can be frustrating when things close up between 12 and 2 just when it would be nice to stop for a midday break especially if the weather is not great.
