This also squares with my memory of northern Portugal.

Yes, that’s my memory of northern Portugal. They’re all like that, in our experience.

If you are heading to the Douro Valley, consider Casa Cimeira in Valença do Douro. Amazing hospitality and beautiful spot.

Hi Scott, no not this time. We just posted today's ride. It was terrific- smooth roads, little traffic and cycling through the Duro Nature Reserve was wonderful. The scrub land, vistas, rock walls and the ride down and then out of the valley with the Agueda River at the bottom was beautiful. Tomorrow we are off to Trancoso. Cheers

Yes, beautiful town, smaller than Salamanca for sure but beautiful churches, monuments and vistas walking around on the walls. And not expensive

Nobody touring on e-bikes in Spain and only a few in France. But in 2018 we saw lots in Germany and Holland.
You could get used to the hills, just go slow, and the coffee is fabulous.

This definitely looks like a town I have to visit. Your trip is definitely having me consider a change to my spring plans!

Like so many places we visited when we were still working, I wish we’d have had more time. We just spent one night here, with time to walk part of the walls at the end of a long day.

Are you going up to Garda?
