Cobblestones are the worst, especially for women! It’s one of the reasons we didn’t spend much time in Portugal and moved on to Spain on our last trip there. On a future trip you should look at the Almeria region. It’s the only desert in Europe and it has few cars but a lot of paved roads with very few cars but a lot of professional cyclists training during the winter months.

Looks fun, not! We’ve had the same issue with routes we create on ridewithgps.

Wonderful post, that really gives you the feel of what it’s like being there. Isn’t Portugal the most amazing place though?

Yes pretty quiet in the hotels. With Covid it is great for us. Not so good for the hotels.

Thanks for reading! I am amazed that you can cycle, write your own blog and comment on others! You are the gold standard in cycle blogging. I love your blogs and have been following your travels keenly. We will be following your itineraries in future trips for sure. Thanks for the encouragement. We find it challenging to stay on top of the writing.

By the end of the day Steven was trying to miss the villages if possible. We were tired and still had a ways to go.

Yes, beautiful countryside. Remote, with the wind and the birds.

The first parts we were in were very remote but thing changed with our arrival last night to Viseu. The weather warmed up, we ate out on a patio which we haven’t done in a few nights. Portugal is less expensive than Spain and France. We are really enjoying it so far except for the loose dogs!
