It was about 25 here today when I ventured out at about 2:30 in the "heat of the day" with a west-northwest headwind. Temp started out near freezing this morning and dropped all day. I was dressed for it with my homemade face mask, ski gloves with knit liners and homemade wind hand covers going near my elbows, and homemade toe covers for my feet. Fingers still hurt... I think the stupid beta blocker med slows my circulation. Used to run in temps in the low 20s back in the 1990s and by mile 2 had gloves off. See what you've got to look forward to? Can't complain though, as I'd never dreamed I would still ride in sub freezing weather at almost age 75.
Enjoy the balmy weather! Thanks for all the great photos.
Merry Christmas!
There have been very few this trip. More on the Mission Road.

I wondered when this would happen!
Great to see cycle touring journals I'm following cross paths!
Spoon,
You do know that Jacinto is a Mexican? We eat plenty of tacos . . . :)

my comment efforts vanished this morning. I tried to say that in all your journals, and I’ve read them all, if it weren’t for Tacos you two would starve to death!

That cements the deal!
3 years agoKeep an eye out for us. I think we’re going that direction ourselves today, for the same reason - the tailwind on the way back, not the tacos.
3 years agoSteve,
I remembered you saying that you frequently rode Harrison Greenway. I'm thinking of riding that way again today, just to stop and buy something to eat! Plus, that is the fewest navigational errors I've had this trip. I'm allowed to ride the same route two days in a row if I want to? I did check the wind today. Wind from the east . . . so, I'd have a tailwind coming back.

Scott - Good one! You got me!

I did not look in the meat department, but at our local 'mercado' (where I get a hint as to what sort of store it is because of the name), they have pre chopped steak that is excellent for tacos. I love it when someone else does the work for me!
While driving to dinner, we saw an Islamic grocery store. Now I can't even tell you where. I almost told Jacinto to pull over so we could walk the aisles. It was fairly small. Heck - you can tell what a small town girl I am. I just googled to see if I could jog my memory. There are all sorts of Islamic groceries and also a school! No big deal . . .
Thank you for following along with us.

Correct! :-)
Some species of Agave. Probably not native since native species in the area have spines on the edges of the leaves.
